Art Haus & Cinema featuring classical movies filmed in Tahoe in February

Located in the former Cobblestone Cinema in Tahoe City, The Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema is a completely remodeled and revamped theater and bar. It features a new state-of-the art digital projector, 75 new rocking leather seats, a bar with craft beer and espresso machine.

It brings together the passion of 25-year Tahoe local and filmmaker Steven Siig, who has long wanted to open a theater in Tahoe, and Mark Gogolewski, who has had a dream of helping to breathe new life into Tahoe City.

On February 9-11, in concert with the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society, the theater will feature a “Romance in Tahoe” series, which are classic movies filmed in Lake Tahoe: “Magnificant Obsession,” “Out of the Past” and “A Place in the Sun.” The guest speak will be Beverly Lewis, director of Placer-Lake Tahoe Film Office.

We have enjoyed working with Beverly to promote movies that have been filmed in Lake Tahoe, and we have written about “A Place in the Sun” being filmed on the West Shore in our magazine: “Lake Tahoe’s serene West Shore has star power going back to 1951, when it was the backdrop for A Place in the Sun, starring Elizabeth Taylor. “Every time you leave me for a minute, it’s like goodbye,” Liz whispers to her lover, Montgomery Clift, from the archway of a lakefront estate. Details are here.
