Tools for Keeping in Touch with Clients

Quick Tips / September 22, 2014 / Kristie

Keeping in touch with clients is important to establish and maintain quality customer relationships. Sometimes, selling the right product or service is about timing. Just because you’re ready to present an offer or release a new product, doesn’t mean that the customer is ready to accept that offer or purchase that new product. This is why it’s important to continually touch base with your clients so you can keep them in your sales funnel.

Keeping Touch

When you keep in touch with clients over a certain period of time, they will remember you more. The more people remember you, the more likely they are to contact you when the timing is right, or refer someone else to you. Nancy Jackson from Business Know-how explains this benefit in an article titled The Magic of Keeping-in-Touch Marketing. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining communication with clients for continued business, rather than only focussing on new leads.

Remembering which clients you haven’t touched base with in a while can be difficult, even for people with a great memory. Daylite helps you by remembering for you and allows you to make sure you’re on top of communication with clients from both ends of the spectrum. One way is with Activity Sets in Daylite to remind you to touch base with a client 30 days from now, 60 days from now, 90 days from now, etc. You can also use Smart Lists for clients that you haven’t touched base with in 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, etc. This way you’re sure to not let anything slip through the cracks.

To learn how to create and use your own Activity Set in Daylite for routine follow ups, watch this short tutorial video in our Help Centre.

To create a Smart List of clients that you haven’t touched base with in a while, all you need to do is select “People” in Daylite, and create a filter for clients with no activity in the last 30 days (or 60 days or 90 days). To do this, click the filter icon in the top right corner of your contact list, and define your filtering criteria. For this example, you would select “Category” that is “Customer”, then click the “…” and select “Does not match any”, then on the next line select “Activity” and fill in the time range for the last interaction. In this example, we’ve used no activity in the last 30 days.

Now you have a list of clients that you haven’t emailed, called, or met within the last 30 days. You can click to save this list as a Smart List so that you have an automatically updated list of who you want to reach out to.

Both of these tools in Daylite help remind you when to send a friendly email about a new product, or even just to call a client to say hello so that you maintain steady communication. This way your clients are reminded of you and when the time comes that they or someone they know require a service or product, they will think of you.
