When it comes to the future of Sony’s Spider-Man movie franchise—including announced spin-off movies Sinister Six and Venom—everything is up for grabs, according to producer Alex Kurtzman.
Collider quoted the producer talking about future plans for the franchise, although he admitted that “it’s all up for grabs, right now. We’re just trying to figure it out.” Currently, he said, Venom—which Kurtzman plans to direct himself—will follow Drew Goddard’s Sinister Six movie, although the timing of those movies in connection with Amazing Spider-Man 3 was, he said, “still in conversation. Everybody is still figuring it out.”

Talking about the appeal of a Sinister Six movie, Kurtzman said that he was “a crazy fan of movies like The Wild Bunch or Wages of Fear, where you’re rooting for the bad guys. I think that’s the opportunity that Sinister Six has to provide.” He also teased the possibility of a movie focusing on the Black Cat, following the debut of the character’s secret identity in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. “We are always looking for opportunities like that,” he said in response to a question about Felicia Hardy getting her own movie in the future. “I can’t say a whole lot about it, but I wouldn’t rule anything out.”
Asked about any possible connections between Venom and Sinister Six movies, the producer said that “everything is still on the table, right now. Because it’s a universe outside of the Spider-Man universe, even though it’s connected to it, those movies have to stand on their own. So, we’ll see. We’ll see how it goes.”
