Priest held for sodomising 7-year-old

“The boy has told us that Das was involved in similar acts earlier also. We are verifying his claims. The priest has been sent to jail,” said Circle Officer (Soraon), Lal Pratap Singh.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Das, who originally hailed from Madhya Pradesh, had come to the temple located on Sikandra Road 15 years ago. He performed his duties there and lived in one of the rooms within the temple complex.

“Often, in the evenings, he used to lure children who played near the temple complex to his room by promising them chocolates or other goodies. As per the victim’s allegations, it was then that he would outrage the modesty of the children. Further investigations in the case are on,” said Singh.

10-yr-old gangraped

In another case reported under Saini police station in Kaushambi district, a 10-year-old was allegedly gangraped by two persons in her village.

The accused, Prateek Mishra (20) alias Rinku and Asish Kumar Mishra (27) alias Tinku, both residents of the same village, have been arrested.
