STOCKTON—
A teenage passenger riding in a silver sedan was shot and killed Saturday night when a dark colored SUV approached the car on Market St near E St.
Ahmed Aljabri works at a market near where the shots were fired. “When they got here in front of the store one car shot at another car and they killed the passnenger,” he said.
Aljabri says he closed the shop and left two hours before shots were fired. Still, the news is disturbing to him and others in the neighborhood, like Angel Jackson. “That is really scary because I’m always driving by here,” said Jackson. “I have a 12-year-old that [is often] in the car with me.”
Investigators say the victim is a 17-year-old. His cousin was behind the wheel.
According to The Stockton Police Department, the driver realized his cousin had been shot, and then continued less than half a mile to the family’s home on East Lindsay St and called 9-1-1.
Joe Silva from the Stockton Police Department said, “The community is fed up with violent crime.” Investigators want the public to get a good look at the surveillance video so they can help track down whoever is responsible. “If someone recognizes this SUV, we need them to contact us immediately so that we can bring closure to the victim’s family,” said Silva.
The police department is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in this case.
