Agri-scientists discussed management options for enhancing productivity and livelihood security under the effect of
climate change at a national seminar started at
Orissa University of Agriculture Technology (
OUAT) here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, director of Project Directorate for Farming Systems Research (
PDFSR), B Gangwar said, "Climate change has brought about several changes in the weather including
rainfall and temperature.
It has also affected productivity and we have to change the cultivation pattern accordingly. In the future, our farmers may face severe problems."
Several other issues such as natural resources management, organic farming, resource conservation, efficient use of resources, value addition, agricultural education, and livelihood security were also discussed.
The three-day symposium was organized by the Odisha chapter of Indian Society of Agronomy.
