FORESTHILL-
Foresthill is not under evacuation, but the King fire is burning only 16 miles away, so many residents are prepared regardless.
“It’s scary when you see the flames at night and the smoke every morning,” said Jarvis Valdez. Valdez says he has trouble sleeping because he’s scared the blaze will spread overnight.
Valdez says he is packed up and ready to evacuate his home if he needs to, and he’s not the only one preparing. “I’ve got a dog a cat and a couple chickens I can get us all loaded up and out of here if we have to,” said Foresthill resident, Wayne Dodson.
The American fire forced residents in Foresthill to flee last year, so they have been through this before.
Thursday night the Placer County Sheriffs Department, CAL FIRE, and other officials held a community meeting at Foresthill High School.
Officials educated residents about the blaze and explained how they can best prepare themselves. The sheriffs department insisted there was no need to panic yet. However, people in Foresthill are urged to be prepared for anything.
