Nick Grimshaw has said that he hopes Chris Moyles makes a radio comeback in the future.

The BBC Radio 1 breakfast show DJ's predecessor recently stated that he has no plans to return to showbusiness in the near future, and has not presented a radio show since departing the station in September 2012.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Grimshaw said that he understands why Moyles is taking a long break before making any kind of comeback.

"He did it for so long," he said. "If I did something for eight years every day, I'd probably want to have a break. It is a thing where you give quite a lot of yourself away.

"It's quite an honest, personal thing. So you're talking about your life, and how you feel about [things], and if you're tired or happy or whatever. So I can understand wanting to have time not doing that, completely.

"But I'm a fan of his, so I'm surprised he's not [on the radio]."

When asked if it was likely that Moyles could make a return to Radio 1, he added: "I think if he probably wanted to do Radio 1, he'd be on Radio 1.

"If I could have two years off, I probably would."

Grimshaw has also revealed that he would be interested in hosting the Brit Awards or The X Factor in the future.
