WEST SACRAMENTO-
A Tuesday morning shooting woke up residents in West Sacramento, and sent one person to the UC Davis Medical Center.
West Sacramento Police said the shooting happened on the corner of Sycamore Street and Proctor Avenue at around 8 a.m.
A 42-year-old man was traveling on his bicycle with his girlfriend, when he was hit by a drive-by shooter. The couple ended up on the front lawn of a home on Proctor Avenue.
“The assailant arrived in the area and shot at him multiple times, striking him multiple gunshot wounds,” West Sacramento Police Lt. David Delaini said.
Neighbors said the victim was shot twice- once in the back, and once in the arm. He was going in and out of consciousness until paramedics arrived.
neighbors believe they saw a Mustang speeding away from the scene.
West Sacramento resident Mike DePiero said the incident highlights the growing problems in the area.
“It’s just another shooting out here, it’s kind of the norm, unfortunately,” DePiero said.
Neighbors believe the woman was uninjured.
West Sacramento Police said the man was taken to UC Davis Medical Center for his injuries, and is now in stable condition.
Police said later Tuesday that one person had been arrested. No other information was released.
