Dancing With the Stars finals night on Monday brought the elimination of YouTube starlet Bethany Mota as the show narrowed the field of contenders in the season 19 finale to three.
One of three female celebrities left competing at the top of the show alongside final male contestant Alfonso Ribeiro, Mota performed two dances — her and Derek Hough’s jive from week one and a freestyle dance — that earned the pair an overall score of 76/80. Though her final dance on the show earned her a perfect 40/40, America’s votes and the combined judges’ scores weren’t enough to keep Mota in the competition.
And that despite a fierce declaration before the show. “I am out for blood,” she had said. Afterwards, Mota spoke positively about her experience on the show and what it meant for her. “I’ve discovered things about myself, things that I never thought that I could do. I never thought that I would be this far in the competition,” Mota said about her time on the show.

The social media star’s journey on DWTS increased her confidence as a dancer and individual, a trait she lacked growing up because of bullying, she said. “I think I’ve improved so much. Not even in a specific dance style, but just overall as a dancer,” Mota said. “I feel more confident when I move than I did in week one, and I think you can really see that in the dances.”
While partner Hough can no longer compete for his sixth Mirror Ball trophy this season, the professional dancer was proud of the strides Mota made in both her personal and dance life: “I’m proud of this young lady right here. She’s an amazing role model — so proud.”
Tuesday evening’s season finale will see Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas, Janel Parrish and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, and Ribeiro and Witney Carson compete for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. They all earned a perfect score on their freestyle dances.
Tune into ABC at 8/7c on Tuesday night to see which couple will become the season 19 winner.
