CARMICHAEL-

A Carmichael family is shaken up after their 8-year-old girl was briefly abducted early Sunday morning.

The girl is said to be doing fine, but the family and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department are worried the man may try it again.

“She’s sleeping okay, she’s ready to go back to school, and we just want to get her back into her normal life,” the girl’s mother said. She declined to be identified.

Sheriff’s deputies say the girl was taken around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, when a man entered the Adelaide Way home and grabbed her. He reportedly took her into a wooded area near the house.

“The victim told us that she was asleep in her bed, and the next thing she knew she woke up because a man was putting his hand over her mouth,” Sacramento County Sheriff’s Sergeant Lisa Bowman said.

The girl was returned moments later, physically unharmed.

“She didn’t realize what was happening, until she was practically out the door,” the mother told FOX40. The girl’s father said she began yelling, “let go of me.”

Detectives aren’t sure why she was let go.

“It could be that he was scared, it could be a moment of realization of what he was doing that was so egregious,” Bowman said.

The man is described as a white male in his late teens to early 20’s with short, brown, combed-back hair and brown eyes. He was between 5-feet-9-inches to 6 feet tall and between 120 to 160 pounds. He also reportedly has “healing” acne marks on his face.

The Sheriff’s Department released a sketch of the man Tuesday afternoon.

Neighbors fear the man may return to their community.

“You know we keep our doors locked, and you know we have a security system,” neighbor Kelly West said.

The girl’s parents did not recognize the man in the sketch.
