Gary Busey is getting better and better at reality-TV competitions.
The actor, whose performance in 1978’s The Buddy Holly Story earned him an Oscar nomination for best actor, won the 14th edition of the British series Celebrity Big Brother on Friday.
He becomes the first American to emerge victorious on the show. Last season’s winner was British comedian Jim Davidson.
Busey beat out a few Americans to win this season’s title, including reality star Stephanie Pratt (The Hills) and Emmy-winning actor Leslie Jordan (Will & Grace). British boxer Audley Harrison was the season’s runner-up.
Busey finished in ninth place on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice in 2011. He went back on the show in 2013, landing in sixth place.
