TrackID will also stop working.
Have you unlocked the boot loader and can confirm that?

Coz post #21 in the following thread says otherwise: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=55719129

Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app

If anyone finds anything different after losing DRM keys, please reply to this thread so we can have a running list.

Known problems
  • None yet

Reported (unconfirmed) problems
  • MirrorLink stops working (Iruwen)
  • Miracast stops working (Iruwen)

Maybe it's also good to list things that are confirmed to work after unlocking?

On older xperia phones, trackid couldn't work without DRM keys, but I guess Sony removed that requirement.

I have just unlocked my Z3C. Anything I should confirm working/not working?

There's a list of stuff in the OP that's been either only Reported as working/not working or completely unconfirmed. I'd really appreciate it if you could check on those. For reference:

  • MirrorLink
  • Miracast
  • Sony Entertainment Media (Music Unlimited, Videos Unlimited, etc.)
  • BIONZ Engine
  • X-Reality and other Album Settings (Bravia Engine)
  • Sony Triluminos Engine
  • Other Camera Features/Modes
  • DSEE HX
  • Audio Surround Settings
  • S-Force Front Surround
  • Noise Cancelling Features (w/ Headphones)
  • Audio Headphones Settings
  • Hi-res Audio over DAC

You probably don't have the equipment to test all of this stuff, but anything you could confirm would help.

Thanks!

I can confirm that X-Reality / Super Vivid Mode does NOT work (I tested before unlock and then it worked)
Time Shift Camera works
Face In Camera works

I have to test the camera more, since I'm not sure if the quality has changed, the images may have lower quality... Will compare to a Z1C which is locked.

It seems like the camera is ruined :( ...

Please see attached comparison between unlocked Z3C (on top) and untouched Z1C (bottom). This is really bad news!
Why can't Sony inform the users about trivial features like this getting ruined, instead of talking about them not being able to take responsibility for custom ROMs...

Really sorry to hear that =/

Are you sure you're not just on different shooting modes for the two cameras? Also how did you take that photo, with a third camera?

I manually selected HDR mode on both phones, so it is exactly the same mode.
Just to get a quick comparison, I took a picture with a third camera. On the screen you can see that the quality is quite poor. That was why I suspected something was not right in my previous post and grabbed my wifes Z1C.

So, yes I'm sure. The quality of the shoots in low light are not very good at all any more.

Maybe try to take the same photo in Manual 20MP mode without any SCN? That should preclude any Sony stuff and should produce a similar photo. Maybe it has to do with your display settings? Could you upload the photos you took directly?

And just as a side note, it doesn't really matter that the metering modes differ in the two shots, since the apperature, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity are the same in both shots
Actually, it does. It can mean both cameras were not positioned precisely at the same spot. They just happen to produce the same values. The point is that, it is not a controlled test. Variables still exists that we cannot make a judgement from 1 pic alone.

I have 2 units of Z3C's. I'll unlock one of them and run tests in the next few days and see how it goes.

My Z3C will be here Monday. I do not plan on unlocking the bootloader until we can figure out how to get root and back up the partition. I will talk to some other sony devs I know.

    Confirmed

Encouraged by the reports of restored functionality, I went ahead and unlocked my bootloader, followed the instructions, and can confirm that the process does work on 5803 running .77

I took several low light pictures, and they came out without any noise just as they did prior to unlocking.

    Awesome!!!

I just received confirmation from Sony via Anna Aleryd that the image processing algorithms used for low light processing will be lost.
