An unsuspecting robbery suspect was tracked down last night by Elk Grove and Sacramento Police with the help of an iPhone tracking application.

The incident started at about 9:30 as the 23-year old male and female victims were seated in their vehicle in a parking lot near the Chevy's restaurant on the 7400 block of Laguna Boulevard when a white Ford Expedition pulled in front of them. One of two passengers in the Expedition, an unknown white male suspect, approached the  male victim, while the other vehicle occupant, 36-year old Rosevelt Hall of Sacramento confronted the female victim.

The unknown suspect opened the male victim's door and placed his forearm against his neck, demanded money, took his iPhone and punched him in the face. The unknown suspect also took the female victim's cell phone and a power drill that was in the vehicle.

When Elk Grove Police officers arrived, they utilized the find my iPhone application in an effort to locate the suspects. The application provided a possible location in Sacramento.

Information about the robbery was provided to the Sacramento Police Department (SPD). SPD officers located a vehicle matching the description in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Shining Star Drive being driven by Hall.

SPD officers conducted an enforcement stop at Cottonfield Road and Fernridge Avenue and detained Hall. EGPD officers transported the victims to the location of the stop and were able to positively identify Hall as one of the individuals responsible for the robbery as well as the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle Hall was driving led to the discovery of the stolen iPhones and the power drill. A controlled substance was also found inside the suspect's vehicle.

Hall was arrested and booked into the county jail where he remains in custody on a $1 million bail on felony robbery, misdemeanor drug charges and for violation of probation.
