Google’s iOS App Just Got a Material Design Makeover And Much More

Google Search now has a completely new look for iOS, though it’s one many Android users will be familiar with. The Search team is bringing Android Lollipop’s Material Design language to the Search app along with lots of other features and optimization for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The app gets three major upgrades: Recents, Google Maps integration, and a nifty Google button. Recents works a lot like the new apps switcher for Lollipop, creating a vertical carousel of recently visited websites.

If you need get back to the home search button, the convenient Google button at the bottom of the post will get you there. But the coolest addition is the ability to search Google Maps without leaving the Google app at all. According to Google’s dedicated Search blog, you can even open up Street View.

Google also optimized the app for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. For example, image search now displays bigger photos to take advantage of the new iPhones’ bigger screens.

Lollipop may be Android at its finest, but Google is determined to share the love. [Google Search]
