Location-based collaborative video-editing app Clinch to shut down on Sept. 15

Location-based collaborative video-editing app Clinch to shut down on Sept. 15

September 2, 2014

Clinch seems to have failed to clinch a significant share in the mobile video app space.

Launched on iOS two years ago and released on Android last year, Clinch is an app that offers location-based collaborative editing features for sharing videos. But amid the sustained popularity of the likes of Vine, Instagram, and Snapchat, the app has been scheduled to shut down later this month.

The imminent demise of Clinch is announced by its creator, Clinch Labs, in an email to so-called “Clinchers.”

As it turns out, the company has been focusing on its video advertising product instead. “As we are rapidly growing with our core advertising technology,” it says, “we can no longer support and provide our video editing mobile app the attention and maintenance it requires.”

As a result, the company is shutting down Clinch on Monday, Sept. 15, whereupon the app is scheduled to be pulled from the App Store and the Google Play Store and customer support for the app is set to be discontinued altogether.

If you’re a Clincher and you wish to preserve the videos you’ve made with Clinch, you can download them from the app to your devices until Sept. 15 only.
