National Friendship Day is not a joke. It’s an annual holiday on the calendar, and it’s coming up this Aug. 3. To help people celebrate their relationships, IFC is using the premiere of musical comedy Garfunkel and Oates to bring people together (or push them apart) with the musical act’s brutal honesty.
VIDEO Garfunkel and Oates at Comic-Con
The network started rolling out a series of brutally honest video cards on Monday, pairing Garfunkel and Oates’ sprawling catalog of comedic tunes with new video. Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci, the duo behind the band and show, dole out musings on how annoying pregnant women are and the kind of friends they’d rather not have.
All of the videos are living on the IFC website along with Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
In a similar vein as Flight of the Conchords, Garfunkel and Oates follows Lindhome (Garfunkel) and Micucci (Oates)’s misadventures in life and love set to satirical and frequently profane songs. It kicks off Aug. 7 at 10 p.m.
