Homeland‘s Howard Gordon is getting into comedy.
NBC has handed out a script plus penalty commitment to Human Resources, a single-camera comedy from the Homeland executive producer, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The half-hour entry is an action workplace comedy described as being in the vein of 24 meets Die Hard that follows an unlikely group of heroes who come together to save their co-workers, their jobs and, ultimately, themselves.

Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Gordon and his Teakwood Lane head of TV Hugh Fitzpatrick. 3 Arts’ Oly Obst will also exec produce. The comedy hails from 20th Century Fox Television, where Gordon is under an overall deal.
This marks Teakwood’s latest sale this development season and its first-ever comedy. The banner also has presidential drama POTUS at Fox with Gordon’s 24 cohorts Evan Katz and Manny Coto. The company also has Rand Ravich‘s take on Frankenstein at Fox and Midnight Mission at CBS.
On the series side, Teakwood is behind Showtime’s Homeland, TNT’s Legends, FX’s Tyrant and Fox’s 24, the latter of which may still have life left in the franchise.
Gordon is repped by WME, 3 Arts and Gendler & Kelly.
Gordon has been among the top TV writers in high demand this past development season as networks look to proven multitaskers and marketable names to help cut through the clutter.
