TNT is expanding the Cold Justice franchise.
The Turner-owned cable network has greenlighted an untitled spinoff that will follow a pair of crime experts, prosecutors Casey Garrett and Alicia O’Neill, as they investigate cold cases — only this time they’ll focus on sex crimes instead of homicides. The offshoot has received an initial 10-episode order and will launch in spring 2015 on TNT.
The Cold Justice spinoff will retain the same producing team as the mothership, with Dick Wolf, Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz and Tom Thayer executive producing both series. Cold Justice expert Kelly Siegler will also be an EP on the spinoff.
Cold Justice, renewed for a third season, debuted on TNT in fall 2013 and follows Siegler and former crime-scene investigator Yolanda McClary as they investigate homicides that have remained unsolved. They have helped law enforcement with 19 arrests, 10 criminal indictments, four confessions, three guilty pleas and two convictions.
The series averaged more than 2.2 million viewers this summer when DVR-viewing is factored in, a 17 percent increase from its winter run.
