Arrow is adding another superhero.
Brandon Routh has been cast in the recurring role of Ray Palmer, otherwise known as The Atom, on the third season of The CW comic-book drama, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Ray Palmer is described as an unrivaled scientist and inventor, who will play an unexpected role in Oliver’s and Felicity’s lives as the new Queen Consolidated owner and whose intentions with the company’s Applied Sciences division are a mystery.
In the DC Comics, The Atom can shrink down to a subatomic size. This marks one of the only times the character has appeared in a live-action series, as TVLine first reported.
Routh, who played Clark Kent/Superman in 2006’s Superman Returns, is repped by UTA and Main Title. Other credits include features Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Zack and Miri Make a Porno; TV’s Chuck and Partners; as well as Crackle’s digital series Chosen.
He is the latest new castmember to join Arrow this season, with Devon Aoki and Peter Stormare already on tap. John Barrowman was upped to series regular.
Arrow, which will return to San Diego’s Comic-Con later this month, returns Oct. 8 on The CW.
