WOODLAND-

About 40 cats were found inside an enclosed bedroom Monday in Woodland, according to Yolo County Animal Services.

Animal Services said it was hard to figure out the exact number of cats locked in the room because of several boxes that were stored in the room.

Thirty-six cats, mostly adults, were taken away to be checked out by veterinarians. Animal Services says traps were set for the remaining  four or five cats.

Animals Services said an animal cruelty investigation is underway.
