Margaret Cho takes act to SF streets to help homeless
Comedian Margaret Cho is taking her act to the streets of San Francisco to collect clothes, food, and money for people in need.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A San Francisco comedian kicked off her own comic relief tour for the homeless on Monday.

Margaret Cho took her act to the streets of San Francisco to collect clothes, food, and money for people in need. She set up at the corner of Haight and Ashbury Monday for the free performance.

In a Facebook post, the comedian said she'll be doing this for the next two months and will have some "super secret amazing legit superstars who will come and sit in with us."

She went on to say, "The homeless problem in SF is out of control and this is the least we can do."

Cho says the effort can help heal the world. She sang and told jokes while people dropped off clothes and money. Others walked by and took what they needed.

"I'm just encouraging people to come down and give what they don't need for the people who really need it," she said. "It's going to get cold, like really cold here. And so, that's why I want people to help out."

Cho says she'll continue to do this for the next two months to remember fellow comedian Robin Williams.

She will announce where her next street performance will be on Facebook and Twitter.
