Authorities say rapper Beanie Sigel has been shot in New Jersey and is being treated for a “life-threatening injury.”
Pleasantville, N.J., Police Chief Jose Ruiz told The Philadelphia Inquirer that Sigel was shot in the stomach inside a home at the Jersey shore town Friday morning.
Sigel’s real name is Dwight Grant. His lawyer says the rapper is in surgery and in critical condition.
Ruiz says that investigators are waiting to question Sigel about the shooting and that another man found injured at the home refused medical treatment and has been uncooperative.
Sigel was moved from federal prison to a halfway house in August after serving a two-year tax-evasion sentence and then released to home confinement in September.
In 2006, Sigel was shot in the arm in Philadelphia.
