STOCKTON-

The father of a 16-year-old boy killed in a drive-by Tuesday night is searching for answers.

“He was being a kid, who he is, you know? He wasn’t doing nothing wrong, he wasn’t bothering nobody,” Nicolas Sosa said of his son, Enrique Hinojosa. “He wasn’t terrorizing or doing nothing bad or trying to look for trouble.”

Enrique and his 12-year-old cousin were walking Tuesday night near Connecticut and Flint Avenue when police say a car opened fire on them.

“What kind of human being does that to a little kid you know?” Sosa said.

Gunfire was heard throughout the neighborhood, and it even his people’s yards and front doors.

Officers are investigating the shooting as a homicide, but have few leads. The only description of the suspect car is that it was silver.

“With these type of cases, they are frustrating to our investigators because no one is coming forward. So that’s why we’re asking people if they do have information. Because we want to bring closure to the victims’ families,” Stockton Police Officer Joe Silva said.

Sosa told FOX40 that Enrique was not involved in any gang, but police believe the shooters were.

“This possibly may be gang related, just because it was a drive by shooting, and that neighborhood is known for gang activity,” Silva said.

Enrique’s cousin was reportedly struck in the leg, and has since been released from the hospital.

Anyone with information about this shooting can call Stockton Crime Stoppers (209) 946-0600.
