Ryan Murphy is making Neil Patrick Harris‘ American Horror Story dreams come true.
The FX anthology has officially closed a deal with Harris and his husband, David Burtka, to guest-star on Freak Show, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
As first reported by TV Line, the duo will guest-star in the final two episodes of season four. Harris will appear in the final two episodes as a chameleon salesman, while Burtka will be in the finale in a storyline with Jessica Lange‘s freak show boss character, Elsa Mars.
AHS all-star Lily Rabe will also return to the FX anthology and reprise her Asylum role as Sister Mary Eunice. She’ll be seen in episode 10 and provide a backstory on how Naomi Grossman‘s Pepper ended up going from the freak show to Briarcliff. EW first reported Rabe’s return.

The news comes after the former How I Met Your Mother star expressed hope for a guest gig on the FX anthology. “He’s game; he had very specific ideas about what he wanted to do and I have specific ideas. We’re working on melding those,” Murphy told reporters in October, noting that if it were to happen, it would be later in the season to accommodate Harris’ busy schedule. “I’d love to see him and Jessica Lange go at it in a really fun way, and Neil seems intrigued by that notion. We’re inching forward.”
This news also comes after Harris closed a deal with NBC to host a variety show for the network.
