SACRAMENTO —

“Hey I love the rain. Hallelujah! I’ve been praying for it,” said Citrus Heights resident Dale Pitzer.

But by 7:30 Thursday morning, it was a completely different picture. Water covered roadways, vehicles splashed puddles and commuters broke out their umbrellas for protection.

The rain was first of the fall season, and many weren’t complaining

“It is gorgeous rain. I sat out and drank my coffee on the patio this morning just listening and watching the rain,” said Don Monte, who lives in Sacramento.

“I am thankful for it because of the fires in El Dorado,” said Sacramento resident Karryl Keithly.

“We are just enjoying every minute of it. I am from Germany and we have a lot of rain over there, but here it is like very special here,” said Citrus Heights resident Baerbel Pitzer.

Even with slick roadways drivers we talked to said many were doing what they were supposed to.

“It’s pretty standard. Taking precautions. It is okay,” Keithly said.

The slight rainfall was not enough to curb California’s drought, but all agree every bit helps.

“Just for the plants and the trees and the grass, nothing else. Just enough to make it pretty? Yes and nothing else,” Baerbel said.
