For 15 years, Stan Goldstein has personally escorted diehard fans of Bruce Springsteen through the singer’s old and new haunts on his “Rock ‘N’ Roll Tour of the Jersey Shore,” but he had never caught a glimpse of The Boss in the flesh … until this past weekend.
“It finally happened — a Bruce sighting,” Goldstein tells The Hollywood Reporter of the moment he spotted Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, paying a parking meter in Red Bank.
The New Jersey town is among several stops on Goldstein’s tour, which spotlights Springsteen’s childhood homes in Freehold, as well as the famed 10th Ave. and E Street sign in Belmar and The Stone Pony in Asbury park.
Goldstein was showing a father and daughter visiting from the U.K. around town, where Springsteen frequently shops, when they stopped at a light and saw Springsteen and his missus.
The dad is a big Springsteen fan, while his daughter said she was more into Chris Brown. She snapped a few photos from the car (see one, at right).
Goldstein was respectful of the couple, opting not to bother them. “We didn’t want to be rude,” he said. Still, it was an exciting afternoon for the tour, which is based on Goldstein’s book of the same name, written with Jean Mikle. “The father was thrilled,” he said. “We hit the jackpot.”
