Water Conservation Efforts Continue

Governor Jerry Brown is getting ready to make an announcement concerning emergency drought legislation today at the State Capitol. Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins and Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon will join the governor for the press conference.

Earlier this week, the State Water Resources Control Board voted to expand emergency regulations that prohibit certain outdoor water use.

Governor Brown has also asked Californians to reduce their water use by 20% to help prevent water waste.

Crash Takes Out Light Pole

Authorities are investigating a fatal accident in South Sacramento. This happened around 1:20 a.m. on Mack Road near Brookfield Drive.  According to police, the driver was going eastbound before crashing into a pole and spinning out.

The driver did not survive the crash.

Eastbound Mack Road was closed temporarily while crews cleared the area, and has since been reopened.

The damaged light pole was later removed.

Deadly Downtown Accident

CHP is investigating a fatal accident that happened on 3rd and J Street last night. Authorities say a man dressed in dark clothing ran in front of a white Nissan on the off ramp.

Authorities believe the victim was homeless, and has not been identified.

The driver didn’t suffer any injuries, and is not facing charges.
