A missed check-in with the Sacramento County Probation Department led to the arrest of disgraced real estate mogul Michael Lyon.
“We do anything we can do to provide support while they’re on probation, and not return to the criminal justice system,” department spokesperson Julie Wherry said.
Wherry says her field officers can, and do, conduct random searches on probationers in the county.
But Lyon missed a September check-in, so officers went to his home to check on him.
“They conducted a search on the home and found approximately one ounce of methamphetamine,” Wherry said.
That’s enough to warrant an arrest for dealing.
But it also brings back the sentence Lyon got for eaves dropping.
Lyon was on probation for the salacious 2011 case where he plead guilty to filming four women in his home, engaged in sex acts, without their knowledge.
So he’s been re-arrested in that case.
“The eavesdropping charge is not a fresh charge. That was his original arresting offense and conviction,” Wherry said.
So did probation officers go into Lyon’s home, looking for videos or video tapes?
“We don’t have an intent on what specifically we’re searching for. We basically did the compliance check just to see if he was there,” Wherry said.
Also there was Shannon Campbell, another probationer who officers say was in violation on an earlier bad check charge. She now also facing charges for the methamphetamine.
