The first official trailer for Jurassic World offers a glimpse at the most wonderful park on earth — before reminding you that, yes, cloning dinosaurs really is going to end in disaster sooner or later.
The first true look at Colin Trevorrow’s revival of the Michael Crichton franchise — memorably brought to the screen by Steven Spielberg in 1993’s Jurassic Park — opens with a full minute of footage that almost convinces the viewer that everything’s under control and entirely safe this time around…until we see a shark being used as food for a gigantic underwater dino.
By the time we’re told that scientists have created “our first genetically modified hybrid,” it’s clear that something bad is about to happen; when Chris Pratt says, “You just went and made a new dinosaur? Probably not a good idea,” you just know that he’s right. (Spoilers: We don’t see the new beast in this trailer, but that doesn’t stop her being terrifying nonetheless.)
In addition to directing, Trevorrow co-wrote the screenplay for the movie with Derek Connolly. Spielberg acts as executive producer, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley along for the ride as producers. Jurassic World opens June 12, 2015.
