If you can’t wait until next year for some more Game of Thrones, you’re in luck: the first trailer for the official videogame based on the show (which is, in turn, based on the George R.R. Martin novels) has arrived, revealing the truth we’ve long suspected: Peter Dinklage looks just as good as an animated videogame character as he does on the show itself.
The Game of Thrones game comes from Telltale Games, the company behind similar games for both AMC’s The Walking Dead and DC Entertainment’s Fables. Like those two projects, Game of Thrones will be released across a number of episodes (in this particular case, six), beginning with Iron From Ice.
According to Telltale’s description of the game, it centers around House Forrester, a family loyal to the Starks of Winterfell who find themselves caught up in the War of the Five Kings. Players will take on the role of multiple members of the family, and — according to a report in Wired — get to explore the world of the show during the timeframe of its fourth season.
Game of Thrones was originally announced last December, with HBO director of global licensing Josh Goodstadt describing it as something that “will put [fans] right in the middle of the action by letting them decide where the story will lead.
Game of Thrones: Iron From Ice will be released before the end of the year for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and iOS, as well as PC and Mac formats.
