Comedy Central is developing a spinoff from TripTank and teaming with duo Sean Donnelly and Alessandro Minoli for an animated/live-action hybrid comedy.
Jeff & Some Aliens was originally featured in the Viacom-owned network’s TripTank animated series. Jeff, which received a script commitment, follows Jeff (voiced by Brett Gelman) and three extraterrestrials who are sent to Earth to study the world’s most average guy to evaluate whether humanity and the planet should be destroyed.

TripTank exec producers Alex Bulkley and Corey Campondonico will serve in the same capacity on Jeff. Donnelly and Minoli, via ShadowMachine Studios, will also exec produce. TripTank will return for its second season in 2015. TripTank features collections of animated shorts using various styles, a format that allows for Comedy Central to incubate subsequent series from the produced shorts.
Additionally, Donnelly and Minoli are developing animated/live-action comedy The Amazing Danny. The comedy, which also earned a script commitment, puts viewers inside the mind of a lovable schlub in his mid-20s. Donnelly and Minoli will write, direct and exec produce both projects.
Donnelly and Minoli previously teamed for Freshman, an animated comedy Fox developed as a pilot presentation last year.
Shadow Machine is represented by CAA and attorney Thomas F. Hunter. Donnelly and Minoli are with Paradigm and attorney Jeff Endlich at Morris Yorn.
