PLACER-

What’s coming this week is likely to make the snow we got from the last system look lame.

“Caltrans Sierra snow fighters live for big storms,” Caltrans spokesperson Dave Wood said. “That’s what we do.”

In lower elevations, rain will replace snow. And that leaves places like Weimar, still recovering from the Applegate Fire, ripe for mudslides.

“That could be a worry,” Weimar resident Mike Mullins said.

Mullins was evacuated during the Applegate Fire. Since then, the chainsaws have been running- cutting up problem trees on the hillsides above this community.

He says if there is a problem, he takes comfort in the kind of community this is – a tight network of people.
