Job Description

Blue Source is currently seeking a Vice President – Forest Carbon Projects who will work closely with the Blue Source forestry teams based in the Company’s San Francisco and Salt Lake City offices to identify and contract new forest carbon projects. This position will lead outreach and marketing efforts for the origination of new projects from forest owners including commercial timber operations (e.g. TIMOs, REITS), land trusts, private owners and Native American tribes. The candidate will also support Blue Source’s technical implementation team on timber valuation and management issues and the development of proposals addressing combined timber and carbon revenues.

Primary Responsibilities

- Leading business development and outreach to forest landowners
- Marketing Blue Source forest carbon project development services
- Negotiating landowner contracts
- Supporting analysis of management plans and projection of timber and carbon revenues

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Forestry (or another applicable scientific discipline) and:

- A personal network of forest owners, investors and managers
- A proven track record of business development including the pursuit, negotiation, contracting and execution of forest land or timber-related deals and transactions

- Forest property and/or timber valuation/sales experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Prospecting and sales pipeline management experience
- 5+ Years experience in forest property and timber sales

While not required, additional consideration will be given to candidates experienced in:

- Existing forest carbon projects
- Growth and yield modeling
- Forest carbon policy analysis
- Carbon protocols and accounting standards
- Forest management plan assessment

Minimum Education: BA/BS/Undergraduate

Minimum Experience: 5-7 years
