ECC-Net: Travel application helping consumers while travelling around Europe

Commissioner Mimica, together with Andreas Schwab and Robert Rochefort, Members of the European Parliament, and Bernd Krieger, Director of the European Consumer Centre (ECC) Germany, launched ECC-Net: Travel application The multilingual app was developed by the European Consumer Centres with the aim to help consumers cope with difficult situations while travelling abroad. It contains key phrases which people can use to explain a problem they may have with a service provider.

"The app is a demonstration of the capacity of the European Consumer Centres Network to work together to produce high-value-added solutions for consumers. It is also a great example of the European Consumer Centres' strong value and importance for building confidence in our Single Market," Commissioner Neven Mimica said at the launch of the app in Strasbourg.

The app covers nine topics: retail purchases; car rental; travel by air, train, bus, ship/ ferry, hotel accommodation; health; and general information. It is available in 25 European languages – EU's 23 languages plus Norwegian and Icelandic. It can be downloaded for free from:
