Beyonce Knowles released an 11-minute film called Yours and Mine on Friday, in which she reflects on feminism, fame, marriage and life.
“Now that I’m famous, it’s really, really difficult to do very simple things,” says Beyonce, as she narrates over black-and-white footage of herself and dramatic abstract visuals. “When you’re famous, no one looks at you as a human anymore. You become the property of the public.”
She also talks about her marriage to Jay Z, saying it’s exciting to have “a witness to your life” and stating that the love she has for him and for daughter Blue Ivy will last far beyond her life. The retrospective film is in honor of the one-year anniversary of Beyonce’s self-titled album release, which she surprised fans with last December.
