Man Convicted of Elk Grove Burglary, Assault Sentenced

A man convicted of a September, 2013 burglary and assault in Elk Grove was sentenced today in Sacramento Superior Court.

Giovanni Mabon was sentenced today by Honorable Michael G. Bowman to 25 years to life in prison. On November 14, 2014, a jury convicted Mabon of first-degree burglary, attempted robbery and assault by force likely to result in great bodily injury. 

On September 12, 2013, Mabon broke into a family’s home in Elk Grove when an 18-year-old female was home alone. Mabon assaulted the young woman, causing injury, and then fled the home. He was identified by fingerprint and cell tower evidence.

In 2009, Mabon was convicted of robbery in Alameda County. In 2010, he was convicted of first-degree burglary in Contra Costa County.
