ELK GROVE-

A man was killed after he was shot during a pot bust in Elk Grove on Wednesday morning.

This all unfolded when the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department was conducting a marijuana grow search with the Department of Justice and the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The agencies used a boat to get to a pot grow near the Stones Lake Wildlife Refuge off Hood Franklin Road.

When they arrived to the area, they encountered a man with a handgun guarding the grow, and that’s when a Fish and Wildlife officer opened fire and shot the man.

We’re told that no shots were fired by the suspect.

No officers were injured.
