Live Earth is returning June 18 with more than 100 artists playing across seven continents to raise environmental awareness. Pharrell Williams is serving as creative director, helping co-founders Al Gore and Kevin Wall choose who those artists will be.
The announcement came Wednesday, as Pharrell joined the Live Earth leaders onstage at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Is Pharrell performing? He wouldn’t say, since none of the artists have been revealed yet and he chose to place emphasis on the mega concert’s mission: urging world leaders to approve a new climate accord at Paris’ United Nations Climate Change Conference, beginning Nov. 30.

We do know the concerts will take place in Paris, New York, Cape Town, Sydney, Rio de Janerio and Beijing. Each concert will last four to six hours. The Guardian also notes that a Live Earth 2015 concert will take place in Antarctica, potentially the second significant concert on the continent since Metallica accomplished the feat in 2013.
Live Earth’s first (and until now, only) running came in 2007, when artists such as Kanye West, Madonna, the Police and yes, Pharrell played in stadiums all over the world.
The event was televised in more than 130 countries and amassed a then-record 8 million viewers online. According to The Guardian, the event amassed more than 19 million television viewers in the U.S. alone. Those who attended and viewed were urged to adopt a seven-point environmental pledge stressing limited carbon dioxide emissions and energy efficiency.
