The power ballad, also known as audio heartbreak. The genre is unique in that the only appropriate time to sing one (if you're not Steven Tyler) is either badly at karaoke, or alone in the shower when you're absolutely, 5000 percent certain no one is going to come home before you finish the song.
Power ballads are the ultimate guilty pleasure. Only a power ballad can simultaneously be epically cheesy, yet so true at the same time.
You want to love them. You just make sure to roll up the windows in your car when one comes on the radio. And when the right power ballad sneaks its way into your Spotify shuffle, it can deliver a heartrending emotional payload like nothing else.
Luckily, your zodiac sign provides insight into which songs will cut the deepest based on the personality bequeathed to you by the stars. If you want to know how to start your next breakup mixtape, look no further:
Aries (March to April 21): "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey
Ever the optimist, Aries never wants to stop believin', and will certainly hold onto that feelin'. Thanks to the courage and enthusiasm Aries exudes, you're willing to take that midnight train going anywhere ... in the name of love.
