SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A 13-year-old girl drowned Saturday night after trying to help another swimmer.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol online report, Chloe Butcher, of Springfield, was attempting to help another swimmer when she became lodged underneath the water and never resurfaced.
The incident occurred on North Fork River at Dawt Mill in Ozark County around 5:38 p.m.
