About Bain & Company

Associate consultant intern (ACI)

As an ACI, your summer with Bain & Company begins with a week of intensive training delivered by experienced consultants, similar to the training received by new associate consultants (ACs). After training, you are immediately assigned to an active case (and you may be asked to travel to the client site).

ACIs benefit from the mentorship of Bain & Company’s accomplished consulting staff and from the collegial office environment, in which you’ll forge close relationships with other ACIs and the consulting staff.

While the ACI program is a vigorous learning experience, ACIs also have the opportunity for enriching activities such as meetings with Bain’s practice area leaders and social events, plus access to the world-class professional development and training programs.

While at Bain, many ACIs also choose to participate in Bain’s intramural sports, the AC run nonprofit consulting group Inspire and other office-specific organisations.

Responsibilities

As a Bain ACI, your analytical, interpersonal, creative thinking, business management, and leadership skills will be called upon from day one. You will be placed in the thick of the action as you work side by side with some of the best in the business.

Every day is different but ACIs, like ACs, are commonly responsible for data gathering and analysis; industry research; interviewing key clients, customers and suppliers; and presenting their findings to the team.

In this role, you are exposed to a variety of business issues and quickly learn the fundamentals of Bain’s core tools.

Qualifications

The following are general qualifications and abilities required for the associate consultant intern position at Bain. Please check the local office page for any additional requirements.

  • Currently studying for a bachelor’s degree from a renowned educational institution (there are some exceptions to this; please check your office page for more details)
  • A solid team player who’s also an independent thinker
  • A robust analytical skill set, an endless curiosity and a penchant for thinking the impossible
  • Deadline-driven organised and able to multitask
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, but please check the local office page for any additional language requirements

At the end of the summer, ACIs who have met performance expectations will receive an offer to return full-time as an associate consultant once they have graduated from college or university.
