Partner Teacher Applications

APPLICATION INFORMATION
Partnership Details: Participating teachers partner with a Science Teaching Fellow (fellow) from Vanderbilt University, Meharry University, Tennessee State University, or Middle Tennessee State University. Fellows will spend one day per week collaboratively conducting hands-on activities with you in your classroom. Partner Teachers must obtain the recommendation of their principal, agree to attend one week of training in the summer related to the partnership, plan and carry out inquiry based, hands-on lessons with the fellows, and allow observers in their classroom. It is important that partner-teachers demonstrate a desire to improve science instruction in the classroom.
Eligibility Requirements: Teaching partnerships are intended for elementary and middle school teachers in grades 3-8 in Metro Nashville Public Schools. Interested teachers should display a dedication to the education of all children, a commitment to their own professional growth, and a record of fostering communities of learners. Applicants must agree to an observation and interview by the program coordinator or staff.
Fellowship Time Commitment: The conditions of the Scientist-in-the-Classroom Partnership Program require Partner Teachers to complete the entire one-week summer partnership experience. Partner Teachers are expected to plan regularly with their fellow during the academic year, participate with the fellows in collaborative teaching, and assisting with ongoing evaluation activities for the program.
