Advanced Visualization with Python

Annie Evans will give a talk on advanced visualization with Python. She will lead us through how to use Bokeh and the google map API to make an interactive map in an embeddable html file. The dataset is fascinating: terrorist attacks. Annie will also use Matplotlib to create 3-d plots and simple animations.

We will also have a lightning talk from Mike Davidson, MS, who will teach us about high performance cloud computing. He works with truly high volume sensor data, and we are lucky to learn how to use Spark to process data and quickly develop machine learning techniques on truly big data.
