If one’s Facebook feed is anything to go buy, it seems the whole point of existence is to be “crushing it” all the time. To ratchet up the hyper-efficient Protestant work ethic to the point of mysticism.

Which makes me think of this 1911 poem by W.H. Davies, called “Leisure”:

“What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.”

Everybody reading this knows the downside of procrastination. But it has an upside as well. Sometimes it’s not about taking action, but having time to think.

And procrastination produces a lot of the latter.
