Actor Samuel L. Jackson, who grew up under segregation in Tennessee in the 1950s and 1960s, has told Esquire that he knows from experience the type of people President Donald Trump and Sen. Mitch McConnell are.
When asked by Esquire whether he's still angry about the racism he faced in the segregated south, Jackson says he's actually angrier about it now than when he was a young man.
"I’m angrier now about it than I was then just because I see these guys and I know these are the same guys: Trump and all those assh*les, Mitch McConnell," he said. "They’re the same f*cking guys. And when I hear their voices, I hear the same voices. Those twangs where they didn’t specifically call you 'n*gger,' they said 'nigra.' 'The nigras.'"
Jackson went on to say that many of the anxieties expressed by Trump supporters about white people becoming outnumbered by people of color were the exact same things he heard growing up.
"They were worried about the chasteness of their women, and miscegenation, and not having enough of them, there being more of us than there are of them," he said.
