Swift Myers, 18, married his girlfriend of two years, Abbi, last Sunday from his bed in the Saint Frances Children’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and their touching love story is quickly spreading online.

Myers has been battling Ewing sarcoma, a cancerous bone tumor that affects children, since the seventh grade. His latest bout landed him in an intensive care unit for the last month, during which he decided he wanted to marry Abbi, according to the couple’s wedding video.

“He said, ‘Will you be my wife?,’ and we’ve always joked about so I just kind of laughed,”Abbi told ABC News Friday. “The next day he said, ‘You know I was being serious right?’”

After Swift called Abbi’s father to ask for permission, they set the date for two days later, and family, friends, and hospital staff helped decorate the ICU for the occasion. Swift donned a bowtie and said “I do” from his hospital bed.

Abbi told the Huffington Post  Swift hopes to study radiology and she plans to study nursing at the University of Tulsa in the fall.

“He always supports me,” she said. “I wanted to wait to go to college until he gets better. He wants me to go to college and keep going on with my plans.”
