Photo exhibit celebrating Nevada City’s Constitution Day parade opens at City Hall

A photo exhibit celebrating the Golden Anniversary of Nevada City’s Constitution Day Parade is now open in the foyer of Nevada City Hall.

The display includes 35 photos of scenes from the very first parade through last year’s event. The parade was founded in 1967 by the late Col. Bill Lambert, a Nevada City resident and member of the Nevada City Masonic Lodge.

Contributors to the exhibit include Dave Carter, Dennis Cassella, R.L. Crabb, Peter Darnall, George Harper, John Hart, Barbara McHugh, David Parker, Beryl P. Robinson Jr., Stuart Shepse and the Col. Bill Lambert Collection, Doris Foley Historical Library. The exhibit has been organized by the Nevada City Constitution Day Committee as part of this year’s 50th Anniversary celebration.

The parade, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, caps a two-day celebration that includes Revolutionary War reenactments, a downtown outdoor concert by the Nevada County Concert Band and the 49er Rotary Club’s 25th Annual Gold Country Duck Race.

Special guest in this year’s parade is Nevada City’s Alexander Rossi, winner of the 2016 Indianapolis 500.
