Filing Period Extended For Elk Grove Mayoral Race; District 1 & 3 Seats Closed



The Elk Grove City Clerk's office announced yesterday that the filing period for those seeking to run for Mayor has, by statute, been extended. 

The nomination period for the Mayor has been extended to 5 p.m. on August 17, 2016, Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 10225, the deadline for nominations is extended because the incumbent did not file nomination documents by yesterday's deadline.

Any qualified person other than the incumbent shall have until 5 p.m. next Wednesday to file nomination documents for the office. Each candidate must be a citizen of the United States and be a resident and registered voter of the City of Elk Grove at the time the nomination papers are issued (and throughout the term of office).

Official nominating petitions for eligible candidates desiring to file for the Office of the Directly Elected Mayor may be obtained from and filed with the City of Elk Grove, Office of the City Clerk at 8401 Laguna Palms Way, Elk Grove, CA 95758.
