Reliance Jio has been finally launched at Reliance AGM today.

excerpt from Mukesh Ambani's speech.

Data must be affordable, Jio’s scale allows us to provide cutting edge service at a fraction of the cost. The advantage of technology should be passed on to all customers. Current market practice is to charge a base rate for data between 4,000 and 10,000/GB. Jio will have a base rate which is one tenth of this. Our data plans go even further of only 50 Rs a GB or 5 paise an MB. The more data you use, the lesser you pay. These will be the lowest prices anywhere in the world.
If use more data, your price will drop to Rs 25/GB.Reliance AGM LIVE: Jio will cover 90% of India’s population by March 2017, says Ambani

At 11:35 AM point in the above page from Indian Express the tariff plans are there.

This is amazing really. They've truly shaken up the market. I have question, is there a way to make phone calls using the JioFi router with your phone? If there is, this will totally replace the landline!

Official Launch on September 5. Services to remain free till year end.
Students can get 25% more data over these plans.

Rs 1000 for 10GB is not that different from what Airtel is offering. They are giving night unlimited, so that's a plus, but not very useful for people who are not into torrent downloads. I was at least hoping for 20 GB for Rs 1000.

Somewhere I saw 50/Gb.But why should we confuse ourselves now when we have free services till december.Until which ,we will have a clear look at the pricing.

Its insane to expect to do torrent downloads via mobile plans even if its 4g.

I think these are fair plans enough to suffice basic needs of mediocre usage. For heavy download we should rely on wired broadbands.

Says Rs 50 per GB, but in tariffs its different. I assume, they are also including unlimited 4g in night hours to make it Rs50.
